Collecting nothing is the most reassuring protection

This policy covers the Locseek macOS app and the locseek.com website separately. The app collects no personal data; it uses no advertising trackers and no cross-site cookies.

1. What the Locseek app collects

Nothing. The Locseek app does not collect, upload, sell or share personal data. It requires no account registration, contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and requests no access to contacts, location, camera or microphone.

2. What the local index contains

The local index stores only the metadata needed to search file names: the file or folder name, the parent path, size, modification time, creation time and a kind marker. Locseek does not open or read file contents, and builds no full-text content index.

3. Scope of file access

The Mac App Store version runs inside the macOS App Sandbox and can access only the locations you explicitly grant through the system folder picker. Those grants are preserved using security-scoped bookmarks provided by macOS. You can remove granted locations in Locseek's settings; removal affects only the index scope and never deletes files from your disk.

Locseek requests exactly three sandbox entitlements: App Sandbox, read-write access to user-selected files, and app-scoped security bookmarks. It does not request a Full Disk Access entitlement, and requests no Accessibility or Apple Events (automation) permission.

By default, indexing also skips four categories: cloud file names (the local directories of iCloud Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive), app private data, build artifacts and dependencies, and the Trash. Even when you allow those categories, Locseek indexes file names only and never reads or downloads content — a cloud placeholder file is never downloaded because of indexing.

4. Network and transmission

No network, no transmission. The Locseek app's indexing and search functions make no network requests. Search terms, file listings and index metadata are never sent to our servers or to any third party. When you open this policy, the support page or the App Store, macOS hands that off to your default browser or the App Store app.

5. Where this website stands

locseek.com is a purely static site: it sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party scripts. We hold the website to the same standard as the product.

6. Purchases and payment

All purchases are completed through the Mac App Store, handled by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy. Locseek never sees or stores your payment information. Purchases, refunds and entitlement status are managed by Apple under its terms; Locseek only reads the valid entitlement status Apple provides in order to decide whether Pro is unlocked. The Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) applies.

7. Deleting local data

Settings → About offers two entries: "Delete Index…" discards only the index and local learned data; "Reset All Local Data…" deletes everything Locseek wrote on this Mac — settings and preferences, search and open history, the index, learned ranking data, saved folder access, the login-item registration, caches, window state and crash reports — and then quits immediately. Neither touches your files.

A sandboxed app cannot delete its own container directory. For a complete cleanup, move Locseek to the Trash, then use Finder's "Go to Folder" with ~/Library/Containers/ and delete the Locseek entry by hand. System privacy grants must be revoked by you in System Settings → Privacy & Security; App Store purchase records belong to your Apple Account and are not local data. If your system or backups retain copies, their management is governed by your macOS and backup settings.

9. Policy updates
